Technical lead for GreenSpace Project, whose aim was to research 3D virtual reality networked communities which can scale to hundreds of participants. Oversaw all technical aspects of the GreenSpace project, including but not limited to hardware and software for networking, 3D graphics and 3D audio interfaces. A preliminary public demo of this project received local as well as national media coverage, including the Wall Street Journal. Acted as technical liaison for the GreenSpace project to other organizations such as telecommunications firms in the US as well as in Japan.

Helped manage a network of UNIX workstations (DEC, Sun, SGI) as well as Macs and PCs. Conducted MS thesis research on speech recognition using neural networks.

Headed a small team to design and develop microcomputer hardware & firmware (mainly C and 8-bit assembly) for computer-assisted walking and prostheses for paraplegics and quadriplegics. This project received numerous national media coverage, including segments on CBS "60 Minutes". Developed software for data acquisition and analysis, and for the control of human muscle using electrical stimulation. Developed an image processing program to analyze CT scans for analyzing bone density growth. Designed experiments. Managed a VAX/VMS computer facility as well as hardware and software for a variety of other computers.
