Responsible for the design and development of the first “in house” designed Electronic Control Module for Electric Power Steering.  Expanded the Electrical Systems Group (ESG) to include comprehensive design, build and testing capabilities for all aspects of the Electric Power Steering (EPS) embedded controller.  A partial list of ESG work products include: schematics, electrical specifications, functional designs, EMC test plans, mechanical packaging, PCB layout rules, software design processes, project timelines, production software, “in circuit test” manufacturing specifications, etc.  Accountable for Software Process certification audit (SPICE). Facilitated the rapid growth of the Electrical Systems Group. Responsible for the selection and development of the major components in the electrical architectures (Microcontroller, Power Supplies, Watchdog Processor, Gate Driver, etc,). Personally responsible for the design and development of key functions and key diagnostics.  Special emphasis on critical elements where the requirements were ambiguous and the technology was underdeveloped.  Close cooperation with key suppliers during component development stages and the initial device release activities.  Worked with key suppliers to help guide their product and technology roadmaps in support of future generation EPS products.  Direct interface with customers on key technical issues or problem resolution activities.  On difficult technical issues, personally coordinate and communicate status and plans to the customers.   Lead technical analysis on “high visibility” failure analysis activities.
Initiated and developed “New Generation” Electrical Architecture.  Significantly expanded functional and safety content in compliance with ISO26262 (Automotive Safety Standard).  Implemented AutoSAR, Flexray and Dual CAN on various North American and European applications.
 
Responsible for developing the second generation (subcontracted) EPS control module for multiple high volume production applications.  Coordinated internal system design requirements with external controller suppliers.  Responsible for managing external suppliers in all project imperatives including cost, timing, performance, packaging, etc. 
 
Responsible for identifying, selecting and developing a second EPS controller supplier.
Lead engineer and supervisor for first generation (subcontracted) EPS controller development team.  Responsible for hardware, software and safety diagnostic implementation.  Successfully developed and launched the first production EPS controller.
