During the hurricane season, the forecast information was provided from computer models such as the NOGAPS, GFS(AVN), BAM, UKMET, and GFDL models. Also provided the On Camera Meteorologist special weather statements by the National Weather Service as well as climate information for the West Palm Beach area. Was responsible for observing weather radar systems to determine possible impact of rainfall and severe weather in a given area.

Performed field inspections of x-ray machine facilities and radioactive materials users and making determinations concerning compliance with department rules and regulations to protect the environment and the public. Assisted in environmental field sampling of different terrain to determine radiation contamination. Served as a mentor for new staff by maintaining and enhancing professional and technical skills through training and professional organizations. Performed radiation emergency response duties, assessing hazards and taking appropriate actions to minimize radiation exposure to workers, the public, and the environment. Available on a 24 hour-a-day basis for response to radiation emergencies. Performed duties as a member of the State Radiation Emergency Response Team by obtaining and maintaining appropriate clearance by both the Joint Task Force and the Department for the Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) through fingerprinting and background screening. Participated in Nuclear Power Plant Emergency Response Teams in practices, and in the event of an offsite release. Performed managerial duties when assigned.

Worked at the Florida State University’s Mesoscale Air-Sea Interaction Group (MASIG). Specific duties included analysis of computer produced scalar fields of monthly pseudo wind stress averages over the Tropical Pacific; digitizing the analysis into the computer, and plotting the results. The final maps were edited interactively if necessary. This study was directly related to the research of El Nino, and the prediction of Pacific Ocean current models. Wrote several programs.
