Analysis results directed design changes to overcome significant stresses from harmonic vibration environment. Sub modeling included contact analysis to assess performance of clamping device. HDPE shipping containers – Displacement and stress evaluation of large ribbed containers. Development of creep and viscoelastic material models from material test results. Drop test simulations with plasticity. Buckling of shipping container walls – Large deflection analysis of stacked containers. FEA results showed buckling behavior similar to buckling observed in the field. FEA was further used to optimize design and eliminate buckling. Fire Suppression systems – Provide structural analysis for the support of fire suppression system designs. Loading conditions include dynamic flight loads, dynamic automobile driving loads, and crash loads. Missile shroud deployment – FEA simulation of shroud deployment and separation for aerodynamic loading conditions. Shroud deployment initiated by gas generator impulse load. Results correlated well with test and parallel analysis efforts. Grain Silo Collapse – FEA showed that non-centric discharge of grain in a grain silo generates a wall perturbation that leads to local buckling, followed by total collapse.
